I recently accepted the invitation to become a Technical Reviewer for the 37th IAHR World Congress, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 13th to the 18th, 2017. I will be contributing to the reviewing process of submissions under Congress Theme 4: Coastal, Estuaries and Lakes Management.
It is my view that the role of independent reviewers is critical for maintaining the quality of scientific research – especially in today's fast-moving "publish or perish" academic world – and I try my best to contribute to relevant processes for both scientific journals and conferences. The fact that the invitation came from IAHR, the leading worldwide organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application, only added-up to my commitment.
